Preventative Dentistry

Routine Cleanings & Exams

According to the American Dental Association, you should visit a dentist every six months. During regular checkups at Fenn Family Dental, we will examine your teeth and gums for any signs of dental health issues. As part of our oral hygiene appointments, our team will clean your mouth to ensure that it is free of substances like plaque and tartar that can cause cavities.

Oral Cancer Screenings

At each exam, an oral cancer screening will be performed. This allows us to detect any signs of oral cancer in its earliest stages, increasing your chances of curing it.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride is a natural mineral proven to strengthen tooth enamel. After your cleaning, we can apply a larger dose to ward off cavities and safeguard your smile.

Halitosis (Bad Breath) Treatment

Dental Sealants

This completely non-invasive treatment protects cavity-prone teeth from tooth decay. A Dental sealant is a thin, plastic coating that is painted onto the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. The sealant quickly bonds into the depressions and grooves of the teeth, forming a protective shield over the enamel of each tooth. This ensures that bacteria, acids, and food particles never come into direct contact with rear molars— teeth that are at high risk of developing cavities.

Custom Mouthguards & Nightguards

We offer personalized athletic mouthguards to protect your teeth during contact sports. We also offer custom nightguards to minimize damage caused by grinding your teeth at night.

Gum Disease & Periodontal Care

Gum disease (also known as periodontal disease) affects nearly half of American adults. This common dental health issue is caused by poor oral hygiene, though genetics can also play a large role. If you notice signs of gum disease like blood when you brush and floss, inflamed gums, or a receding gum line, periodontal care at Fenn Family Dental will help you halt and reverse the issue. Call us as soon as possible to make an appointment to get your gums back to health.

Fillings

At Fenn Family Dental, we offer composite, tooth-colored fillings to treat cavities. This means that if you suffer from tooth decay, your filling will not negatively affect the aesthetics of your smile. Dr. Fenn will remove any damaged tooth material and replace it with a natural-looking filling that matches the exact color of your teeth.

Bridges and Crowns

If you need a crown to repair a damaged tooth or a bridge to replace missing teeth, we offer superior results.

To start the process, Dr. Fenn will prepare your tooth, creating a stable platform that can support the new dental crown. An impression of your tooth will then be taken to ensure that your custom crown is the perfect size and shape for your mouth. Once the crown is created, it will be permanently attached. If you are receiving a bridge, two crowns will be attached to healthy teeth on either side of the empty space, and a false tooth (also called a “pontic”) will be suspended in-between.

Full & Partial Dentures

Whether your tooth was knocked-out in an accident or you suffer from a severe case of periodontal disease, dentures can restore the form and function of your smile and get you back to your daily life. The dentures created at Fenn Family Dental are built to last and will look natural in your mouth.

If you suffer from tooth loss, you know how debilitating it can be when it comes to everyday activities like chewing, smiling, and speaking. Dentures can restore your confidence and the function of your smile with a long-lasting prosthetic. They offer a less invasive treatment for patients looking to replace missing teeth without implant surgery.

Implant Dentures & Partials

Though traditional dentures restore life-changing aesthetics to your smile, patients are often uncomfortable with the way they shift and move in their mouth. Implant dentures and partials allow patients to replace missing teeth with a long-lasting, stable prosthesis that won’t shift. Dr. Fenn will strive to give you a comfortable, confident implant denture that looks and feels more natural.

Many patients choose implant dentures due to their affordability, longevity, and ease of use. Since implant dentures are stabilized, this means that they won’t shift in your mouth or fall out, and for the most part you can eat whatever you want while you wear them. With implant dentures, you can chew steak, enjoy corn on the cob, and chomp on an apple without worrying about your prosthesis slipping or falling out.

Root Canals

Though it can seem intimidating, root canal therapy is relatively simple. We’ll remove the damaged pulp of your tooth, clean your canal, and seal it off to prevent future infection.

When a tooth is too far damaged for a filling to repair, root canal therapy may be used to disinfect it. During this process, a small hole will be created in the top of the tooth to give us access to the infected pulp. Next, we will remove the pulp and thoroughly clean the tooth’s canal. Once only the healthy portion of your tooth remains, the canal will be sealed with tooth-colored material to protect it and prevent future infection. If the structure of your tooth has been compromised, a dental crown may be placed to support your natural tooth.

Tooth Extractions

While we exhaust all other restorative options before recommending an extraction, sometimes they are necessary to preserve your oral health.

It’s completely normal to feel a bit of apprehension when preparing for a tooth extraction. However, it’s a fairly simple procedure and our team performs them with the utmost care and precision. We’ll carefully assess your unique dental needs, determine whether your extraction is simple or surgical, and create a treatment plan that prioritizes your overall wellness. Once your tooth has been removed, we can begin discussing options for tooth replacement.

Cosmetic Services

Teeth Whitening

If you would like to enhance and brighten your smile, we offer both take-home and in-office whitening that provides faster, safer results than any over-the-counter product. Our whitening agents are more powerful and the trays we use for the procedure are custom-made to fit your smile perfectly, which means no bleach will end up on your gums.

Porcelain Veneers

If you’re looking for a way to achieve a more uniform smile, porcelain veneers can correct tooth shape, shade, and size.

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are custom created to fit flush over the front of your natural teeth. This cosmetic treatment is used to correct a variety of dental flaws, including tooth shape, size, shade, and even subtle misalignments. Veneers are considered a permanent cosmetic treatment, as the process does require enamel removal and modification to your natural tooth. Once this is complete, impressions will be taken and sent to an off-site lab where each veneer will be carefully designed. After we’ve received your custom veneers, we will inspect their fit and appearance, then permanently bond them to your teeth.

Additional Services

Children's Dentistry

Providing family dentistry means placing an emphasis on children’s dental care as well. Here, we understand the important role we play in a child’s view of the dentist and we’re committed to providing them with a positive experience from start to finish. Our goal is to work collaboratively with you and your little one to establish healthy routines and help them maintain a beautiful smile for many years to come!

Our approach to kids’ dentistry places a heavy emphasis on preventive care and eliminating problem areas before they become larger dental issues. We offer a variety of dental treatments to safeguard their teeth and gums and keep them on the path to great oral health for the rest of their lifetime.

Routine Exams & Cleanings

Bringing your child into our office every six months is one of the most important aspects of their dental hygiene routine. This allows us to accurately monitor their development and recognize any problem areas before they get out of hand. Each visit will consist of a thorough cleaning and any additional preventive treatments they may need.

Fluoride Treatment

For children who need a bit of extra protection against cavities and decay, additional fluoride can be applied in the form of a gel, foam, or varnish. Fluoride is a natural mineral that strengthens a tooth’s enamel and helps ward off cavity-causing bacteria. After fluoride is applied, make sure your child refrains from eating for at least 30 minutes.

Dental Sealants

A dental sealant is a plastic-like coating that protects your kiddo’s tiny teeth from cavities and decay. Teeth are filled with small crevices that accumulate bacteria and leftover food particles, leading to damage. Sealants are painted onto the crowns of the teeth, most often the molars, to lock out this bacteria and food.

Custom Mouthguards

We offer customized mouthguards to place a protective barrier between the top and bottom rows of your child’s teeth. Whether it’s for contact sports or to protect against nighttime teeth grinding, a personalized fit offers the most comprehensive protection.
